Power Supply #3

Final(?) assembly of my Gottleib Testing Power Supply

What I wanted was a power supply that can give me lots of coil power and lighting power for 5Volt LEDs. What I got was everything except the 5Volt (I've not done the testing yet).

I've been delayed doing this for ages - I wanted some furniture feet, big rubber stopper things that I could screw to the base to protect floors, tables, and me, from razor sharp rusty mounting screw-tips and poorly installed furniture staples (many thanks Gottlieb installer of 1988).

The National Monopoly Hardware Supermarket (NMHS) advised that the rubber feet were in stock, the empty peg 15 minutes later begged to differ. The helpful dude in wage-slave livery (Team members must sport the iconic red shirt and green apron...) advised that they were indeed out of stock, and some would come in next week, probably.

I waited till next week, but couldn't be bothered going in - Hammerbarn (thanks Bluey) is full of warm family moments. NMHS is a big bucket of disappointment. Just on this build, from the top of my head, I can think of 6 trips that were thwarted by online-instock-empty-shelf syndrome. So rather than rewarding them with a sale...

3 different types of bottle cap, 4 screws, and a splash of Hot Glue

My starting equipment was flooded, rusted, and eaten (wet rot, dry rot, borers), but the transformer unit's plank was Ok for now. The EMI and main fuse wooden standoff was fine, but the screws all rusted and sheared off, so a new piece of scrap 5 ply, washing, cleaning of parts and harness, and back together it goes. You can see the EMI mounted at the top left, below.

I lashed out with the cable-ties and the end result is a fairly neat Frankenstein's lab power supply.
